Sunday Classics - Memorial Day 2024 Cemeteries Ride (B+, 38 miles)
This ride will be different. It’s planned as a “Historic-Cultural” tour of 8 of the cemeteries in the Lloyd - Wacissa areas that we frequently simply ride past. If you’d like a “handout” of some cursory research of the eight we can visit, Memorial Day 2024 Cemeteries Ride.
If everyone agrees, we’ll stop/walk the grounds and take a real look around. Well, that is, until we’ve decided we don’t want to see another tombstone, ever. Anyway, plan to be mobile-on-yer-feets for at least a bit of the “tour”.
Even though Memorial Day was designated to honor US military dead by visiting gravesites, it’s commonly a visiting day to remember any lost family members. A lot of folks put a lot of effort over a lot of years to create these monuments and they are part of the fabric of this area. I think we’ll be a bit richer for absorbing just a tiny bit of “that history”.)
This ride frequently regroups and anyone who speaks up with what they need regarding speed and distance will not be dropped.
